Illinois, and the greater Chicago metropolitan area in particular, is one of the most important tournament volleyball markets in the Midwest, with some of the largest indoor sports facilities in the country operating year-round.

The Chicago metro hosts major national qualifier events at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, the Tinley Park Convention Center, and the Odeum Expo Center in Villa Park, among others. These are large, purpose-built event venues with high court counts, organized parking infrastructure, and proximity to major interstates. The DuPage County and Will County suburbs south and west of Chicago add additional mid-size venue capacity through sports parks and recreation complexes.

Tournament families from outside Illinois should account for Chicago-area traffic, which is a material factor on Saturday mornings when major events draw simultaneous arrivals. Most large Chicagoland tournament venues are located west or southwest of the city and are accessible from the interstate network without requiring city driving. Illinois weather in winter can be severe; for December through February tournaments, build buffer into travel plans.
